WHS 0 - 4 Smithhills

On Friday afternoon the year 9 boys football team suffered a rare defeat to Smithhills High School. The game was a close affair in the first half with WHS playing much of the better football but not being able to keep their composure in the final third of the field and finish their chances.
As the saying goes, football is a game of two halfs and Smithills started the second half strongly managing the convert their first real chance of the match. After this WHS began to feel the effects of the warm weather and looked tired as three players did not turn up leaving the team with only the bare eleven players.
Two quick goals from goalkeepping errors made it very diffict for WHS but they kept playing until the final whistle. WHS take on Sharples on Wednesday with a full squad and hopes are high for a turn around in fortunes.
